Genetic and molecular mechanisms underlying geminivirus-plant-whitefly interactions.

About the line

Our work focuses on understanding the plant-geminivirus-whitefly interaction at both genetic and epigenetic levels. Our main lines of research are:
– Role of post-translational modifications by ubiquitin-like peptides in virus infection.
– Gene-silencing and hormone-dependent defence mechanism against geminiviruses.
– Understanding the biological relevance of the epigenetic changes induced on the host by geminiviral infection.
– Mechanisms underlying induced plant responses to geminiviruses and whiteflies and their consequences for plant–microbe–insect interactions.
